TIDY TOWN KILMOYLEY GARDEN RESULTS:  Tidy Towns Kilmoyley had a fantastic night at their first annual Garden Awards Ceremony. A Huge crowd attended this inaugural event. A wonderful night was had by all, there was an immense sense of pride and satisfaction by all nominees. Roll on 2016.

INVITATION TO THE LAUNCH OF “NORTH KERRY HURLING HISTORY BOOK”:  A book on the 90 year history of the North Kerry Hurling Board will be launched on this Sunday, 18th October by Aogán Ó Fearghaíl, Uachtarán, Cumann Luthchleas Gael. Venue is Ballyroe Heights Hotel where proceedings get underway at 8.00p.m.

Anyone interested is invited to attend, with a particular welcome to anyone who had a direct link or a family link with the Board over the years. This includes former officers and delegates and past and current players and club officers and delegates.

 ‘North Kerry – a hurling history’ will be a hardback, A4 sized book, running to 256 pages and it will include over 150 photographs. It includes lists of all the North Kerry officers since 1925 as well as each of the recorded competition winners.  The book will go on sale at the launch and will cost €20. Copies will be available thereafter at a number of shops throughout the North Kerry villages.  A great and interesting night guaranteed.

CLUB INTERMEDIATE CHAMPIONSHIP:  Kilmoyley Seniors will play the Clare champions on weekend of 25th October.  With the Celebrations well over by now a serious effort will have to be put in over the next few weeks if Kilmoyley want to succeed in this competition.

INTERMEDIATE CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL – The Intermediate Co Final is down to take place on Sunday the 18th October in Abbeydorney V Dr Crokes.  Time to be finalized.  Best of luck to the team and mentors and we ask you all to support the team on the day. The team have put in a big effort for this and deserve their day.  Text will be sent out to all members to confirm same.  

U21 CHAMPIONSHIP – Kilmoyley were defeated by the Causeway on Friday evening in Kilmoyley on a score of 1-10 to 0-17.  Team Emmet Meehan, Eamon Dowling, Colman Savage, John Godley(capt), Mark Lynch, Dougie Fitzell, Flor McCarthy, Paudie O Connor, Jordan Brick(1pt), Robert Collins, Kieran McCarthy(1pt), Robert McElligott, Maurice O Connor(1-1), Eoin McCarthy(1pt), Daniel Collins(6pts, 6f), sub used Paudie Godley.

U16 – Kilmoyley were defeated by Lixnaw on a score of 2-10 to 0-06.

U13 – Well done to the u13 team who took part in the ground hurling tournament on Saturday in Crotta.  They came away with runners up medals in the shield losing narrowly to Ballyheigue.  Abbeydorney and Ballyduff drew after extra time in the A final and will have to meet again.

KERRY HURLERS STRICTLY COME DANCING 2015:  Eleven couples are taking part in the ‘Kerry Hurlers Strictly Come Dancing’ fundraising event.  The event will take place at McHales Bar, Causeway on Saturday the 17th October.  Laura Collins, Kilmoyley will dance with Patrick McCarthy of Tralee on the night.  Book your tickets which cost €20 from Geraldine Collins 087-2481668.  Check out the Kerry hurlers strictly come dancing Facebook page for the other contestants taking part.

CARD GAMES:  Kilmoyley Card Game will begin back again on this Wednesday night the 7th October at the Kilmoyley Community Care Centre at 9pm sharp.  All card players welcome.

DEATH: The death took place during the week of Deborah Lynch, Ballymacquin, Ardfert and formerly of New Jersey and Clahaneneish, Ballyheigue.  Her remains were removed from The Gleasure funeral home on Friday evening to the Sacred Heart Church Kilmoyley.  Burial took place after requiem Mass on Saturday to adjoining cemetery.  Sympathy is extended to her family, relatives and friends.  May she rest in peace.

HURLING CHAMPIONS – Congratulations to the Kilmoyley Senior hurling team, champions for 23rd time.

WALKING GROUP: Welcome back to everybody after our not so great summer so hopefully our program of Sunday outings will help to make up for it.  We are going to start off this coming Sunday 4th October with an outing to The Paps peaks in close proximity in the Derry Na Saggart Mountains close to the Cork Kerry border.  The summit of each being marked by an ancient stone burial tomb, outstanding views are seen from the summit on a clear day.  It is a moderate approx four hours return.  Meet at Tochar car park 9.30am please have boots sticks and packed lunch.
All Wednesday two hour outings meet church car park 9am.  All welcome.

BEST OF LUCK:  Best of luck to Florence and Cathriona McCarthy of Banna East who has made the shortlist for the National Dairy Council and Kerrygold Quality Milk Awards.  Florence and Cathriona who are representing the Lee Strand Co-Op, will compete in the finals of the awards, which are designed to recognise the standard for excellence in dairy farming. The farm is amongst 13 finalists who will now be put through an extensive judging process before a winner is announced on October 20.
