COMMUNITY CARE LOTTO: The numbers drawn for the Lotto of the 24th August were 11,17,18,21.  There was no jackpot winner of €6,800.  Two €50 winners were Rob Norton, Tralee and Tadhg O Halloran, Ballymacuinn.  Numbers were drawn by Gordon Keane.  Community Centre bookings 087-1611720.

KILMOYLEY GOLF SOCIETY:  Captains Day prize giving took place at McElligotts Bar Ardfert on Saturday night where a big crowd attended. Congratulations to John Nolan who had a great score of 38 and was presented with his prize by J.J. McElligott and Jimmy O Sullivan.  2nd was Jimmy O Sullivan on 34 and 3rd was Michael Harrington on 34.  Thanks to sponsors McElligotts Bar who also provided lovely food on the night.

CILLARD CAMOGIE CLUB:  Cillard Under 16 team won their first Limerick league game last weekend on a score of 7-13 to 2-00.  Cillard U13 team are through to the final of the Limerick league after a great win over Ahane on Saturday last on a score of 4-07 to 1-0. Well done to both teams.  U13 training this Wednesday evening the 2nd September from 6 to 7pm.  U12, 10, 8 and 6 training on Friday evening from 7 to 8 pm.  All training at Kilmoyley sportsfield.

SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP – All roads lead to Abbeydorney this Sunday evening 30th August at 6pm when Kilmoyley play Ballyduff in the semi-final of the Championship.  Best of luck to everyone on the panel and to management John Meyler, Ollie Diggin, Mike Lawlor and Brendan McElligott.  Please come out and give them all the support you can.  Be that extra man. 

NORTH KERRY JUNIOR LEAGUE FINAL – This game took place in Causeway on Wednesday 19th and nothing could separate Kilmoyley and Lady’s Walk at the final whistle.  There was only a goal between them at half time with Kilmoyley being 1-9 to Lady’s Walk 0-9.  Kilmoyley’s goal coming from Joe McElligott.  The Walkers goaled into the first few minutes of the second half and it was point after point from then to the finish.  Both teams finishing on 1-14.  No date decided for the replay.  Kilmoyley team and subs used Emmet Meehan, Eamon Dowling, Colman Savage, Sean Fitzgerald(1p), Ian Brick, David Ryan, John Godley, Jordan Brick(1p), Luke Fitzell, Brendan Harris(6p,5f), Maurice Murnane, Micheal Regan(2p), Kieran Regan(1p), Joe McElligott(1-1), Richard Gentleman(2p), Sean Nolan, Maurice O Connor, Conor Fitzell.

MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP:  The Kilmoyley/Abbeydorney Minor combination exited the Championship last Saturday evening in Lixnaw against Lixnaw. Conditions were slippery as there was heavy showers before the game. The home team had a good start with a goal in the first minute which put the pressure on our lads. Half time score was Kilmoyley/ODorney 0-6 to Lixnaw 2-06, but our team were working hard and trying hard for a goal but it never came.  Lixnaw were first to open scoring in second half and it was points exchanged between both teams when David Egan hit the net for our team, but at that stage it was too late to catch up with the home team when they went on to score a third goal.  Final score Kilmoyley/Abbeydorney 1-12, Lixnaw 3-16.  PANEL – Sean Holden, Eamon Dowling, Ronan Donovan, Kieran McCarthy, Robert Collins (3pt, 2f), Sean Curran, Liam Claffey, Darragh Scanlon, Mark Lynch(2pt), David Egan(1-2), Kieran Regan, David McCarthy, Maurice O Connor(2pt), Emmet Meehan, Philip Flaherty, Michael Slattery(3pt), Daniel O Brien, Richard Flaherty, Thomas Curran, Cian McCarthy, Cian Doherty, Thomas O Sullivan, Dean O Brien, Kevin Crowe, Owen O Connor, Niall O Mahony, Sean Regan, Mentors – Seamus Regan, Brendan McElligott, Timmy Weir and Johnny Regan.

HURLING CLUB DRAW RESULTS WEEK 3 AND 4:

GOLDEN JUBILEE – Congratulations to Lady’s Walk hurling club who celebrated their Golden Jubilee at the weekend.

U12 – were due to play Rathmore in Co league on Friday but this has been put back to a later date.

U14 – Kilmoyley 2-6 V Ballyheigue 4-7.

U8 – had a great blitz in Abbeydorney last Saturday.  Thanks to everyone who turned up and to the mentors for looking after them.

U10 – are due to have a blitz in Tralee on 12th September.  Please keep this date free.

CAMOGIE – Hard luck to The Kerry ladies Camogie team were beaten by Carlow in the Junior B final on Sunday.  Kilmoyley girls involved were Jessica Fitzell, Orla Young, Alanna Maunsell, Laura Collins and Manager Pete Young.

SYMPATHY:  Sympathy is extended to Greg Claffey of Lerrig and his family on the death of Greg’s father Percy Claffey of Limerick who died last Friday.  May he rest in peace.

SUMMER SOCCER SCHOOL:  The boys and girls who participated in the Sports World FAI Summer Soccer School hosted by the Kerry District League in Mounthawk Park last week were honoured by a visit from FAI chief executive, Mr John Delaney and Republic of Ireland manager, Mr Martin O’ Neill.  The men were present to officially open the new all-weather pitch at Mounthawk Park.

GAA NEWS: SYMPATHY – Kilmoyley hurling club wishes to express its sympathy to the family and relatives of Michael Treacy who died at the weekend.  Michael held the position of vice-president of our club.  Michael played hurling with Kilmoyley from the mid-forties.  He played in goals for Kilmoyley in 1955 v Ballyduff in the county senior hurling championship.  He then went to London where he played with St Finbarr’s Tipperary whom he won a senior title with and in 1965 he won an Intermediate title for the Kingdom. 

Michael returned to Kilmoyley in the late sixties and he made a come-back in 1970 when Kilmoyley won the NK Intermediate title.  Later that year he won his cherished County Championship medal when he played full forward for Kilmoyley with victory over Killarney at 40 years of age. 

Michael continued to follow Kilmoyley and Kerry up to his death and was a dedicated supporter.  Ar dheis de go raibh anam. 

HURLING CLUB DRAW:  The week three draw deferred to next Sunday evening as a mark of respect to Michael Treacy. 

SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP – Once again the club wishes to thank everyone including the stewards and ladies in the kitchen who helped out for the championship game St Brendan’s V Causeway on Sunday evening.  Great help from everyone and thanks to TJ Maunsell, Pa Riordan and Micheal Regan for the use of their land for parking. 

NORTH KERRY JUNIOR LEAGUE FINAL:  Kilmoyley V Ladies Walk was scheduled to be played on Wednesday evening the 19th.  

U12 CO LEAGUE – Kilmoyley lost to Crotta last Friday evening in Kilmoyley in phase 2 of Co League on a score of 5-04 to 0-04.  Kilmoyley will play Rathmore away on Friday the 21st August.

GAA CUL CAMP:  Well done to the 60 children who took part in the Cul Camp last week.  Thanks to Maurice Leahy and his helpers who did a great job.  Congratulations to Ronan Walsh who was selected player of the week.  Cillian Monahan winner of skills competition and Kellie Meehan winner of the girl’s skills. 

KERRY MINOR HURLERS- Congratulations to the Kerry Minor hurlers who defeated Down on a score of 2-22 to 3-9 to get to the final of the Minor B Championship.  Well done to Manager Ian Brick and players Robert Collins and Kieran Regan.

DEATH:  The death took place of Michael Treacy, Baltovin on Friday 14th August 2015.  His remains were removed from his niece Maureen Spillane’s residence to Kilmoyley Church on Sunday evening.  Burial took place after requiem mass on Monday to the new cemetery in Kilmoyley.  Sympathy is extended to his family, relatives and friends.  May he rest in peace. 

ARDFERT/KILMOYLEY COMMUNITY GAMES: Well done to Eimear O’Sullivan who ran as part of the Kerry team in the U13 cross country at the National Finals in Athlone last weekend. The Kerry team of 5 boys and 5 girls finished first in their heat on Saturday, thereby qualifying for the final. They finished in 3rd place in the final on Sunday so came home with bronze medals. Well done to all involved.  We have 2 athletes from the area representing Kerry at National Finals this coming weekend. Lauren O’Grady is competing in the U16 discus and Aaron Malik in the U14 hurdles. Best of luck to both athletes and we hope they enjoy the experience.

ROSE OF TRALEE 10KM:  Congratulations to all the local athletes who participated in the Rose of Tralee 10KM Road Race on Sunday 16th August.  Over six hundred contestants took to the streets of Tralee.  The weather conditions were ideal for running and the route around the town of Tralee was delightful.  Thanks to all the faithful supporters who cheered on the athletes and added to the festive atmosphere.
