HURLING CLUB DRAW WEEK 2 RESULTS – Congratulations to prize winners.  €250 Jerry Horan, Snipefield.  €100 Diarmuid Carroll, Banemore.  €50 Julie O Connor, Kilcooley.  Week 3 draw next Sunday evening. 

INTERMEDIATE CHAMPIONSHIP – Kilmoyley Intermediates had a good win over Abbeydorney last Friday evening in Rd 1 of the championship.  The team had a good lead early in the first half with the three goals coming from Richard Gentleman (2) and Joe McElligott which gave the team a good start going into the second half.  Half time score Kilmoyley 3-09 Abbeydorney 0-3.  Kilmoyley came out winners with another 6pts scored to Abbeydorney 5pts in this half.  Final score Kilmoyley 3-15 V 0-8.  Conditions were perfect in Abbeydorney for the game.

U14 Kilmoyley V Ballyheigue on Monday evening 17th at 6.30pm in Kilmoyley.

U12 Kilmoyley V Crotta on Friday 14th at 7pm in Kilmoyley.  Kilmoyley were due to play Dr Crokes last Friday evening but the Killarney side conceded the game.  Rathmore are also in this group. 

SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP – Kilmoyley welcome St Brendan’s V Causeway to their grounds this Sunday evening at 6.30pm in the senior championship game.  

KERRY U21 – Kerry were very unlucky to be beaten by a point in the All Ireland B championship on Saturday last.  Kerry were leading by 2pts in injury time when Meath scored a last minute goal.  Well done to the team and Manager Joe Walsh and the Kilmoyley lads Dougie Fitzell, Jordan Brick, John Godley and Florence McCarthy and the team who put in a tremendous effort on the day. 

KERRY MINORS – Kerry are out again this weekend in the Minor B Championship when they play Down on Saturday next.  Best of luck to all involved

COMMUNITY CARE LOTTO:  The numbers drawn for the Lotto of the 3rd August were 15,18,19,22.  There was no jackpot winner of €6,500.  Two €50 winners were Sam and Flynn McElligott, Ballinorig and Bert O Carroll, Ballyhemican.  Numbers were drawn by Mairead Casey.  Community Centre bookings 087-1611720.

SWIM:  After a summer of monotonous rain and blustery winds the sun made a welcome appearance on Friday morning last in Banna Strand as Anne Lawlor and friends including Rose of Tralee, Maria Walsh took a refreshing dip in the wild Atlantic.  Elaine Kinsella presenter of Radio Kerry’s Full Breakfast documented the event.  Unfortunately her co-presenter Andrew Morrissey was unable to attend on this occasion.  After the event all present were treated to a cup of hot tea and tasty treats in Anne’s cosy kitchen.  Many thanks to Anne and Kevin Lawlor for their welcome and hospitality.

RESULTS:  Congratulations to all the Leaving Certificate students from Kilmoyley who received their results on Wednesday.

WEDDING: Congratulations to Christina Barrett, Ardrahan and Joe McKinnon who got married last week and held their reception at Ballygarry House Hotel.  Best wishes for a long and happy life. 

 

GAA NEWS W/B 3/8/2015

SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP – Well done to Kilmoyley who have advanced to the semi-final of the Senior Co Championship with a good win on Monday evening 3RD August in Ballyduff V Abbeydorney. Playing with a strong wind in the first half they took advantage and had built up a good score of 2-08 to 0-00 for Abbeydorney going into the second half. Abbeydorney had a lot of misses in this half and should have had a higher score as they were with the wind but only managed 0-6. Kilmoyley clocked up 2pts in this half. Congratulations to everyone involved and now look forward to the semi-final. Final score Kilmoyley 2-10 V Abbeydorney 0 -06.

NK U14 CHAMPIONSHIP – Kilmoyley U14’s drew with Abbeydorney last Tuesday evening in an exciting game held in Kilmoyley. Kilmoyley opened the scoring with a goal from David Godley which got the team off to a good start. Kilmoyley went into the second half on a score of 1-05 to Abbeydorney 0-5. But Abbeydorney did not mess around and got a good goal at the start of the half followed by a great Conor Corrigan goal for the home team. At the end of full time a draw was the fairest result with both teams ending on a score of 2-09 each with everyone working very well.

On Thursday evening the team met Feile champions Ballyduff in Ballyduff.  Even though they put in a great effort Ballyduff defeated our boys on a score of 4-14 to 4-05.

U12 CO LEAGUE – Kilmoyley boys and girls travelled to Kenmare by bus on Friday evening and under atrocious weather conditions they team were defeated by the home side on a score of 4-05 to 1-03. 

FIXTURES – INTERMEDIATE CHAMPIONSHIP The first round of the Intermediate champ will take place in Abbeydorney this Friday night 7th August Kilmoyley V O Dorney at 6.30pm.

U16 NK CHAMPIONSHIP Kilmoyley v St Brendans on Kilmoyley on Thursday evening.

KERRY MINOR HURLERS – Congratulations to the Kerry Minor hurlers on their win over Kildare in the first round of the championship on Saturday on a score of 2-19 to 0-13.  Well done to Manager Ian Brick and players Robert Collins and Kieran Regan. 

CAMOGIE – Well done to the Kerry Ladies Camogie team who defeated Meath on a score of 4-17 to 0-04 in the Liberty Junior A Championship semi final on Sunday last.

U16 Championship the Kerry Camogie team were defeated by Antrim on a score of 3-01 to 3-09.

KELLOGG’S GAA CUL CAMP: Don’t forget the Hurling and Camogie Cul Camp will take place in Kilmoyley sports field starting next Monday the 10th to 14th August inclusive.  Great week of games and fun for 6 to 13 years.  Parents can register their children on the first morning of the camp.  Open to boys and girls and also visitors to the parish.  Cost €55 per child with reductions for additional members of families.  From 10am to 2.30pm daily. 

SENIOR CITIZENS OUTING: The Annual Kilmoyley Parish outing will take place on this Thursday August 6th, beginning with Mass in Kilmoyley Church at 10am and then travelling on to Cahersiveen. Our annual outing is open to young and seniors.

BANNA 5K AND 10K RUN:  Well done to St. Brendan’s Athletics Club, Ardfert for hosting a very successful Fun Run event in the beautiful Banna Strand on Sunday 2nd August.

CLUB NEWS W/B 27/7/2015

GAA NEWS: SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP – Kilmoyley have got through to the next round of the championship after defeating Crotta in Causeway on Sunday last.  Both teams have played two hard games and this game also went to extra time.  Kilmoyley pulled away in extra time and went on to win on a score of 1-12 to 10pts.  In a free-ridden game Daniel Collins scoring 1-11 with the goal coming from a penalty awarded to Kilmoyley.  Full match report in sports section of Kerryman. The team will now play Abbeydorney on Monday evening the 3rd of August at 6.30 in Ballyduff.  In the other games Lixnaw had an impressive win over Causeway and St Brendan’s defeated Ballyheigue by a point. 

U12 CO LEAGUE PHASE 2 – Kilmoyley had a tough win in the first game of phase 2 Co League.  They defeated Lixnaw on Friday evening last in Lixnaw on a score of 5-08 to 6-04. They take on Kenmare on this Friday evening.  Txt will be sent out re time and venue. 

U10 BLITZ – Thanks to St Brendan’s club for hosting the blitz last Saturday.  Kilmoyley played 3 games and won one against Ballyheigue but lost to Ballyduff and St Brendan’s. 

ANNUAL SUMMER DRAW – Due to circumstances the first draw in the Annual hurling club Summer Draw will now take place this Sunday evening the 2nd August.  The club relies mainly on fundraisers like this as we do not have a Lotto account like other clubs, so we do rely on the generosity of the members who support us. Thanks to everyone who has subscribed already and there are still lines on sale, if you would like to support please contact any ticket seller.  Five week draw €10 per week with great prizes – 1st €250.  2nd €100.  3rd €50.   Bonus draw for all fully paid up members at the end of the five weeks.

INTERCOUNTY HURLING FIXTURES – Both Kerry Minor and Under 21 Hurlers have away fixtures in the opening Round of the All Ireland Championships. The Minor Hurlers are in action against Kildare in Newbridge on Saturday August 1st while the Under 21 Hurlers travel to Trim to take on Meath on the following Saturday.

BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA TRAGEDY – JACK HALPIN, Hurler and Footballer with St. Jude’s GAA Club, Templeogue, was seriously injured as a result of the Berkeley, California, tragedy that claimed six young lives and forever changed the lives of numerous casualties, their families, friends and relatives.

St Jude’s GAA club in Dublin are organising a major fundraising raffle campaign – JudesforJack.  All proceeds of this fundraising campaign are going towards Jack’s ongoing rehabilitation.  They are appealing to the traditional GAA clubs and members to please support this fundraiser.

Tickets are €10 each and there are numerous prizes to be won including much coveted All-Ireland Hurling and Football Final tickets with overnight accommodation (full list of prizes available at www.judesforjack.com).
