It's a case of what might have been for our U21s who lost out by 1-14 to 1-12 to Abbeydorney/ Ballyheigue in the quarter final of the county championship on Bank holiday Monday. This was an entertaining game played in ideal conditions in Abbeydorney, and the result was only decided at the final whistle.
Both sides traded early points, Maurice O'Connor, Robert Collins and Jordan Brick scoring for Kilmoyley, before the home side hit the Kilmoyley net following good work from their pacey forwards. Kilmoyley stayed in touch however and began to win more possession around the middle third and create more scoring chances. At half time they trailed 1-8 to 0-9.

The second half proved to be something similar as the home side stretched their lead. Kilmoyley were well in contention but found the Abbeydorney full back line very difficult to break down. Kilmoyley drew level with ten minutes remaining as Maurice O'Connor finished to the Abbeydorney net following a Robert Collins rebound. Unfortunately, the home side finished stronger and converted two late frees to seal the win.
