GAA NEWS:  SENIOR HURLING LEAGUE SEMI FINAL.  Played in perfect conditions in Kilmoyley on Saturday last in front of a lively crowd, Kilmoyley were unlucky not to have advanced to the finals in a close encounter with St Brendan’s.  It was the visitors who opened the scoring with a point from Kevin Skinner followed by a free from St Brendan’s main free taker John Egan.  Kilmoyley capt Sean Maunsell got the first point for us and Shaun Young back in action again after a spell out with injury added a goal and a point to his name in style, which saw our lads go ahead by a pt.  Referee John Hennessy awarded a penalty to Ardfert, but Kilmoyley’s goal keeper Aiden McCabe yet again, pulled off one of his great saves from Darren Dineen.   We had 4 more points in this half from Joe McElligott, Daniel Collins, James Godley and Paudie O Connor before Nicky O Sullivan sent the ball to the back of the net for St Brendan’s followed by a point from a free by Egan.  Half time score Kilmoyley 1-6, St Brendan’s 1-5.

It was 14 mins into the 2nd half before we had our first pt from a free while Ardfert had four unanswered points, but this led to Kilmoyley scoring 5pts in a row from Daniel Collins, Joe Mc, Tom Murnane and Shaun Young.  St Brendan’s added two more pts which would have led to a draw but a free awarded in the last few minutes led to a one point victory for the neighbours.  Final score Kilmoyley 1-12 to 1-13. Team Aiden McCabe, Seanie Murnane, Sean Dowling, Sean Nolan, Flor McCarthy, Dougie Fitzell, Tom Murnane 1pt, Paudie O Connor 1pt, James Godley 1pt, James McCarthy, Sean Maunsell 1pt, Daniel Collins 3pt 2f, Jordan Brick, Shaun Young 1-3, Joe McElligott 2pt, subs used Luke Fitzell and Robert Collins.
