HURLING CHAMPIONS – Congratulations to the Kilmoyley Senior hurling team, champions for 23rd time. 

COMMUNITY CARE LOTTO:  The numbers drawn for the Lotto of the 21st September were 14,15,17,24.   There was no jackpot winner of the jackpot of €7,200.  Two €50 winners were Áine Crowe, Kilmoyley and Sean McGrath, Knockbrack.  Numbers were drawn by Paul O Connor.

WALKING GROUP: Welcome back to everybody after our not so great summer so hopefully our program of Sunday outings will help to make up for it.  We are going to start off this coming Sunday 4th October with an outing to The Paps peaks in close proximity in the Derry Na Saggart Mountains close to the Cork Kerry border.  The summit of each being marked by an ancient stone burial tomb, outstanding views are seen from the summit on a clear day.  It is a moderate approx four hours return.  Meet at Tochar car park 9.30am please have boots sticks and packed lunch.
All Wednesday two hour outings meet church car park 9am.  All welcome.

BEST OF LUCK:  Best of luck to Florence and Cathriona McCarthy of Banna East who has made the shortlist for the National Dairy Council and Kerrygold Quality Milk Awards.  Florence and Cathriona who are representing the Lee Strand Co-Op, will compete in the finals of the awards, which are designed to recognise the standard for excellence in dairy farming. The farm is amongst 13 finalists who will now be put through an extensive judging process before a winner is announced on October 20.

 

GAA news w/b 21/9/2015

SENIOR CO HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP: Kilmoyley Hurling club wishes Sean Maunsell our Captain, his team and management the best of luck on Sunday as they take on our neighbours St Brendan’s in the championship.  This is a big event for the Club and parish and we are asking everyone to come out and give the lads your support.  They have put in a lot of work getting to the final and we know they will do us all proud.  Throw in for this game is down for 2.30 in Abbeydorney.   Come early and give your support.

THANK YOU – The club would like to extend a sincere Thank You to everyone who has supported the parish collection towards the club.  As we are in a final expenses mount up considerably.  If there is anyone who would still like to contribute financially you can contact Treasurer Paddy Harrington at 087-2494381. 

NK U16 CHAMPIONSHIP – Kilmoyley were defeated by Ballyduff on a score of Kilmoyley 4-03 to Ballyduff 2-11.  Ballyduff scoring a last minute goal to win by 2 pts.

CILLARD CAMOGIE CLUB – Congratulations to Cillard camogie U12 girls who won the League V Causeway on Saturday in Causeway.  Well done to everyone involved.

KILMOYLEY GOLF SOCIETY:  The Golf Society next outing is to Killorglin Golf Club on this Saturday the 26th September.  Tee time is from 10am to 11.30am.  This outing is kindly sponsored by Tom Meehan of Kingdom Garage Doors. 

COMHALTAS:   Enrolment for music lessons and the AGM for CCE Naomh Breandáin will take place on Tuesday 29th September in Cuil Mhuire (beside Ardfert Church) at 7:30pm.  Lessons will begin on Monday 5th October in Ardfert Community Centre.

KILMOYLEY NATIONAL SCHOOL:  Summer Reading Scheme – Mai O Connor, Second Class, took up the challenge and participated in the Summer Reading Initiative promoted by Maria Doyle of Tralee Library.  Mai was in good company as over one thousand children entered the challenged which encouraged them to read six books from a variety of genres.  On Saturday 12 September the Mayor of Tralee Cllr. Thomas McEllistrim presented the children with Certificates of Achievement.

Dawn Milk Mini Marathon – Bravo and well done to all the local athletes who participated in the Dawn Milk Mini Marathon, Killarney on Saturday.  Hats off to John O’ Sullivan who ran the event in full costume to raise awareness for the Bumbleance Charity.

Ireland’s Own Winner – Congratulations to Amy Murphy, First Class, who won a cash prize for a competition promoted by the Ireland’s Own magazine.  Amy got a big surprise as she hadn’t realised her aunt had entered her work in the competition.  Well done Amy!

Taekwondo – Alan O’ Connor is a student of Taekwondo which is a Korean martial art and at a recent grading Alan was awarded his yellow stripes.  Well done Alan.

Colouring competition – The school had two winners in the Super Cereal Colouring Competition sponsored by Garvey’s SuperValu, Tralee.  Teagan Carey and Mikey Corridon were thrilled when they received a phone call inviting them to Garvey’s, Tralee to be presented with their prizes.

GREYHOUND VICTORY:  Congratulations to Liam Dowling on his great win with “Ballymac Matt” at Shelbourne on Saturday night. 

 

GAA news w/b 14/9/2015

SENIOR HURING FINAL – Abbeydorney has been set as the venue for the hurling championship on Sunday the 27th September. 

PARISH COLLECTION – As Kilmoyley Hurling club have two teams in both the Senior Hurling Championship final and the Intermediate championship final, members of the club will be calling around this week hoping that you will be able to give whatever support financially you can to the club.  The teams have been training now since late January/early February and getting to a final is very expensive.  Trainers and physios as well as all the other expenses amount up very quickly.  The club caters for all ages and have a large amount of players from underage to Senior level.  We have a great facility in our parish which we know is appreciated by everyone who uses it.  We hope that you will be able to help out and we look forward to and are fully confident in our teams doing very well in the finals.  Thanking you in anticipation. 

KILMOYLEY U16 – Kilmoyley played Ballyheigue last Thursday evening in Kilmoyley and had a good win on a score of Kilmoyley 7-06 to Ballyheigue 1-07.  Well done lads. 

KERRY FOOTBALLERS – Best of luck to Ardfert footballer Brandon Barret and Senior footballer Killian Young who has Kilmoyley connections and all the players and management in both the Minor and Senior football finals this coming Sunday.  Safe trip to everyone travelling. 

JUVENILE BAG PACKING: Thanks to everyone who helped out at the Bag Packing in Garvey’s Tralee on Saturday last. 

TAKE OUT YOUR FLAGS AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT – Time to get your flags and bunting and posters out now and show your support for the hurling teams.  Lots of green and gold up already and looks very well. 

CILLARD CAMOGIE CLUB:  U13 training Wednesday at 6:30 pm.  U12 training Wednesday at 6:30 pm both in Kilmoyley GAA field.

U12 North Kerry League Saturday 19th September at 10 am in Causeway.

There is no training Friday evening due to the Listowel Races (U 6,8,10).
